Hello from Sparwood

I am in another place I’ve never been before! Tonight, it is Sparwood, BC. I am here for two half-day meetings with Teck Coal, who has operations and offices here. So far, the trip has been successful. It started by renting a car. I reserved a “standard” car from Enterprise for Sunday evening, and when I went to get it, it wasn’t ready.

“Would you mind driving a Mercedes?”

Nope, I don’t mind.

The weather this morning was cool, but not below freezing. The sun was glaring at times, but I’d take that over rain or snow any day. I stopped a number of times to stretch and take a picture or two. Remember, you can click on them to see larger copies.

I’d never driven through Crowsnest Pass before. I was worried that the weather might make it difficult, and the snow level was pretty low, but the roads were clear.

I got to Sparwood on schedule, about quarter past eleven. I was supposed to meet the Esri Account Manager, Steve, at the Visitor Centre in Sparwood. He ran late, so I had time to walk around a bit and investigate. I took photos, including this one of a massive dump truck.

And here is the arch over the road into Sparwood, and my hotel.

My hotel. You can see the golden larch trees on the hills

The meeting went well this afternoon, and Steve and I went into Fernie for dinner. Fernie is a tourist destination in the summer and winter, and quite picturesque.

Tomorrow will be the second half of the meetings, and I will be driving home in the afternoon.

  1. Fantastic pictures, especially with the snow caped mountains in the back ground. I think the Mercedes fits you well Ha Ha…..
