What luck! Today, I got one of these:

Zoom G9.2tt
Zoom G9.2tt

I’ve had a Zoom G2.1u for years:

Zoom G2.1u
Zoom G2.1u

And I’ve enjoyed using it. I’ve dreamt of getting one of the higher-end models, but never could justify it. I was pondering getting Tammy a 2.1 since she and I are playing together fairly regularly these days. So I happened by Long and McQuade yesterday after my doctor’s appointment (all clear on the nut bump, by the way) and I was on my way out the door when I saw a few boxes with Clearance on them, two of them Zoom G9.2tt’s and one G7.1ut. I shifted the box for a better view, and the full message was $199, marked down from $480. I did a double-take, and asked what the deal was. You don’t see 60% markdowns on lustyworthy items every day, you know.

Turns out they were rental units, slightly used and they were clearing them out. I didn’t have time to get more than that before I really had to catch my bus, and I pondered it all the way home. To make a long story short, Tammy and I talked about it and went back there tonight and bought one (one of the two G9.2tt’s was sold already) and there is a 30-day money-back guarantee. I’ve set it up and had a bit of a go at it. It’s pretty much pristine. All the switches work, and it’s as clean as a new unit. I wonder how many times this thing actually left the store. No scuffs, no dust.

Got Tammy hooked up with the old G2.1 tonight and we played a bit. I had some trouble working out how to use the new one. Compared to the old one, it’s like sitting down at the controls of a 747. 🙂
