It didn’t take too long… but I’m glad it’s done. By last night, I had cut the safety rails and given them a coat of primer. Everything was ready.
This morning just after 8:30, Jeff came over to give me a hand carrying the parts of the bed up the stairs and assembling them in the room. We set the bed up where Miranda’s old twin bed was. That was the original plan, and I had adapted the bed design to take that into account. But as soon as it was in place, Tammy and I both saw the major flaw in the plan: the bed blocked entirely too much of the light from the window.
So Tammy and I decided that despite the size and weight of the bed, we would shift it to a different location. I went about fastening the safety rails and desk, then we heaved and tugged and successfully moved it to a different spot, where it didn’t block the light. A mirror attached and a light fixture installed above the desk, and Miranda finally got to climb up into her new bed.
Ian soon followed. He managed to get up by himself. He can’t get down, though, so we’ll have to keep an eye on him.
Love it:) Wow!!!
I love it! 😀
Very cool!
That is a fantastic bed!! Great job Simon! Miranda looks very pleased. 🙂
