ESRI Christmas Party and Sleepover

No, ESRI didn’t have a sleepover as well. 😀

Last night was Simon’s office Christmas party. People from all over the Prairies Region flew, drove, or took the train/taxi into Kensington for the party at Winebar Kensington. It’s a very trendy place in a very trendy neighbourhood – just the place I would live if I were a young, upwardly mobile type.

For once we weren’t the first to arrive. We drove to the train and then took it downtown. We had a short walk through Kensington to get there. People slowly trickled in over the first hour and soon there were roughly 24 couples, even though some were singles. There was plenty of wine, beer, and spirits flowing and some really awesome food – fancy pesto tortellinis and prawns, garlic-laced tuna, and truffles on crisp breads, pâté, cheeses, bruschetta, and decadent desserts. It was mostly standing and mingling with all the different employees and spouses/partners/friends. It was a really enjoyable evening.

Cynthia next door took Miranda and Ian for the night. originally it was just going to be Miranda sleeping over, but it turned out that Ian fell asleep too. They made cookies and watched movies. There was a pancake breakfast with which Ian helped. Everyone was well behaved and had a good time. 🙂
