Time to start thinking about fitness

I have to admit, when I bought my cycle trainer last fall, I was hoping that I wouldn’t be in this position. I’m looking at the thermometer creeping warmer outside and the calendar is showing “March”, and I am in sad shape. Admittedly, the last three and a half weeks weren’t my fault per se, but the rest of the winter only saw a modicum of cycle training. The Bow Cyclists will be starting up in late April or May, and I’m eyeballing a long ride or two this year.

So, with a clean bill of health from the doctor and a new haircut, I am now going to get in (better) shape for the start of the cycling season. My specific goal is to fit comfortably into the great new cycling jersey that Tammy got me for Christmas:

It’s the one on the right. Cycling jerseys are supposed to be form-fitting, but this one is not acceptable for public consumption, despite it being an XL. I think the British are built smaller, or something. 🙂 So I don’t know what that translates into in pounds and inches, but I’ll know it when I’ve made it.
