New Garage Door Panel

Today, we got a new panel installed in our garage door. The reason is that one of the door panels’ hinges broke earlier this year. I’m surprised I didn’t post about that problem, only the replacement of the door opener. Anyhow, I called Creative Door at the time to help us out (there was a sticker on the inside of the door, I assume they installed it when the house was built). The garage door was essentially non-operative. They sent a guy around who fixed the hinge temporarily, and we arranged for a new panel and installation. Well, somewhere along the way, we got lost in the shuffle, but I followed up with them last week, and this week, the new door was ready and now it’s installed.

It was the second one down that broke, but we ordered a new top panel, and the previous top panel has moved down. We wanted one with windows. It lets in lots of natural light, and with the streetlight outside, that means that even in the winter, there will be at least some light in the garage without the lights on.

I asked the installer (Dan) if that was a good or a dumb move. Looking around, most of the doors in our neighbourhood don’t have windows. With my luck, there’s a weather- or climate-related reason not to have windows. He told me no and laughed. He said the reason is that builders are cheap.

So now I need to do some painting, but I don’t think this will take too long. When Tammy gets home, we can discuss the right colour. White is the obvious choice to me, but anything other than beige would be welcome.
