Dad broke his arm

I got an email yesterday morning from Carol asking when could call me because she needed to speak to me. I gave her some times, but I never received a response. She ended up calling during Ilia’s party – which was so loud I couldn’t hear my phone. I tried every which way to contact her: texting, her cell, email, and FB messenger. No response. I couldn’t return her call because they go through Google phone and it’s a random number each time. So I had to wait until she contacted me again.
Later that afternoon she sent me an email explaining how dad broke his arm and was going in for surgery. Of course, I was under the impression that medical facilities were sub-par. (Turns out they are far superior in some ways.) It wasn’t until today that I got another email saying he was back home and all was fine. We Skyped around 4.30.
He tripped over the pavement in the dark and hit the step at such an angle that caused a diagonal fracture across the humerus. The surgeon gave him three treatment options and he went with the pin through the centre one. It was the fastest healing and more stable. The sling is a humdinger.

They were very pleased with the care he received. The medical clinic was in Puerto Vallarta, about 22km from them, and it was a rinky-dink place. But they got him right into a room and x-rayed and visiting with the orthopaedic surgeon all within an hour or so. His surgery happened Sunday morning at 10 and he was awake in his room by 2. The rooms were clean, modern (TV with full cable, a fridge) and when you wanted to eat they went and made food. They didn’t wake you up at 6 to take your temp and then stuff some food down you, he slept in until 8 and breakfast was at 9.
He has to go back and have the stitches removed in 2 weeks and then some physio. Hopefully all will be mended by the time they come back.

  1. Glad he’s okay. We were pretty worried for a while.

Do they serve Jell-O in hospitals in Mexico?
