Father’s Day and House Selling Progress

Yesterday was Father’s Day, which is something that the kids in particular were excited for. I was too. Any day that you get cards which look like this is a good day:

Ian's card for me
Ian’s card for me

I didn’t just laze around, though. I finally got around to scanning the two albums’ worth of photos from Mom and Dad that we brought with us in the move to Calgary with the promise that we would scan them. It started with yesterday’s post of the kids’ class pictures. I scanned those, and I was looking for Tammy’s old class photos (they had been brought out to show the kids) and I was going to scan those as well. And if you’re going to scan those, you might as well do the whole job…

So I set myself up in the bonus room with my Macbook and the scanner and the albums. First, I put Pacific Rim on in the hopes of luring the kids to keep me company, but that didn’t work. Then I put Pride and Prejudice on, and that was successful in luring Tammy. So we watched as I scanned. 430 photos later, it’s something I can scratch off my to do list.

I also had three phone calls with Mom and Dad yesterday. The first was a quick “Happy Father’s Day” call to Dad, but he let me know that there was an offer on their place. They were going to meet with the realtor and go through the whole ordeal. I called them a few more times over the course of the day for updates. In the end, they accepted the offer, but then their offer on a condo later that day wasn’t successful: they were outbid. Today, Dad was going to look at another condo that looked promising.

They will be out of their house within a month! July 19th is the date. Mom and Dad: you are welcome to come and stay with us for a couple weeks if the possession dates don’t work out, but that might not be very convenient for you!  🙂

  1. I have heard from Mom and Dad, and they have successfully completed their offer on the condo they were looking at. They get possession July 7th, which is great, since there will be over 10 days’ overlap where they can prep it and move.
