BBQ and Women’s BCC

This evening was a busy one. I had to get home from work early, because there was a special event at Tuscany School to get to with the kids, and then Miranda’s bicycle ride after.

First up was the Tuscany School barbecue. As I understand it, it was to celebrate 10 years that the school had been open.

Part of the excitement at the school

We had signed up and paid for three meals: a hamburger, chips, bottled water and a mini cupcake for each of us. We brought three folding chairs so that we would have a place to sit.

We stayed for an hour. Ian went off and played on the playground, and Miranda and I sat and chatted a bit. The weather was nice, with the sun poking in and out of clouds. At six, it was time to leave, so that Miranda would be on time for her club ride.

Compared to last week’s thunderstorm-shortened night, this was a perfect night. Liz led the group off up Edworthy Hill, and into Springbank. Ian and I spent some time test riding a couple more bikes, and we think we’ve found a winner in the Specialized Hot Rock, which is a 24″ mountain bike. I think we can wait until he’s bigger before worrying about a road race bike or a cyclocross bike. 🙂

Ian and I went to Edworthy Park and spent some time there wandering and exploring and playing on the playgrounds. Eventually, we drove up into Springbank. I could see Miranda’s position on my iPhone, so I knew which way the group would be coming back. Ian and I waited until the group went by…

We all had a great evening. Maybe next week, Ian and I will bring bikes down and will go for a ride while Miranda is out with the club. I’m pretty confident that she’s not going to wash out now that she’s been on two long rides on Sundays and now a much longer ride with the ladies.

  1. Nice day for the school barbecue. The girls were not wasting any time, glad you recognized Miranda.

    1. It was easier to make out with eyeballs. The bright pink bit on her shorts was vivid and she was the only one wearing the 2017 Bow Cyclists Club jersey.
