Today is Simon’s 46th birthday. The day started off quite early with Squeak marooning around at god knows when. By the way she was goofing and traipsing around the bed I thought it had to be at least 7. It turns out it was only 6.30 when I finally gave in and checked her bowls and boxes.
After that I put on the coffee and arranged his presents and card while Simon got ready. I put out his maple nut “Goatmeal” Crisp. He gradually opened his cards and presents during breakfast. He had to do a few things for work, so while he did that I iced and decorated his cake.  Before lunch we went out to get his licence renewed. In the end lunch was a selection of appies followed by his cake – orange with chocolate icing.  We were going to watch Wonder Woman (the movie) while we ate, but lunch required too much attention so we watched it afterwards. Finally both Simon and I did our cycling since the weather has been a disaster today (pouring). Maybe we’ll watch another movie tonight.

Thank you! I had a good day, if a little quiet. It’s been such a tsunami at work that just taking today off was a gift (even if I put in a couple of hours in the morning to answer email, finalize a document and do my timesheet). My birthday lunch was delicious and so was the cake. There will be leftovers for days… I had fun exploring the app that Ian gave me: Nebo (https://itunes.apple.com/ca/app/myscript-nebo/id1119601770?mt=8) It’s a note-taking app that turns handwritten notes into text. And it does an amazing job of it, too. The part I’m trying to figure out is how best to organize the notes. I’ve been using OneNote for years, and it might be disruptive to switch, but the handwriting to text is so cool! I also spent some time playing with another gift, from a long while ago: MainStage. Some of the presents I have received in years past are practically “new in box”.
The food and cake looked yummy The cake made my mouth water. Neat presents including the chain Mirranda made. Happy Birthday again Simon, Love Dad..
