Shovelling Begins

This is the start: the first time that we shovelled the driveway for this winter. Even though Calgary had that snowfall back in September, it fell when we didn’t have to drive: the kids were at school and Tammy and I took the train to work. Then it was melting and gone. This time, it looks like it will stay: it’s down to minus eleven tonight, and will slowly work its way up over the week.

I can’t really say I’m depressed about it. Tammy and I were just out there, and the night is dark and crisp, and there is that sort of silence that you only get with fresh snow. I walked up to the main road, and it’s not plowed yet. I hope it is by tomorrow: I have to take Miranda to the orthodontist, and we don’t have a car with snow tires yet, thanks to my inability to change Tammy’s.
