Kicking Off Our Christmas Vacation

We all survived the last few days, and now we have some much-deserved time off. Tammy has a week off, and I have two. At times it seemed like Friday would never come. Work in January looks like it will be equally as hectic, so I have to rest for all I’m worth.

Today was a baking day. Tammy’s best way to get into the Christmas spirit is baking. For once, I took part. Normally, the baking is just Tammy, but I’ve been talking for years about building a scratch gingerbread house, and she poked me this morning. So I made gingerbread while she made a fruit cake, sugar cookies and a mince tart.

The gingerbread house has four windows made from melted Jolly Ranchers. There is a light inside, but it’s a little difficult to photograph.

The house turned out really well, Simon. You realize you’ve startedatradition [at least for a few years! What gingerbread recipe did you use? Have the candies started to disappear yet? Have a great holiday. Love from Mom & Dad

    1. It’s a small pie. About 8 inches across. It will be our Christmas dessert, with custard and/or rum sauce, of course. 🙂

  2. I found a Christmas pudding in the deepfreeze and will make some rum sauce to go with it! Mom made an extra one last year. Dad.
