We Made It To Victoria

In a day!

Yes, we left home at 5:00 this morning, and managed to check into our motel by 9:30 this evening. It was a long day, but not particularly painful.

The kids were up without prodding, but somewhat in disbelief that they were up so early.

It was rainy and dark. The rain let off when we were in the Kamloops-Merritt area, and then we had full on sunshine for the rest of the trip. Here’s a picture at the summit of Rogers Pass.

Construction: lots of it!

The kids were great, with almost no complaining at all. Amazing what modern technology can accomplish, isn’t it?

I don’t know why it didn’t occur to me earlier that arriving at the ferry at dinnertime on Friday would be a bad idea. We got there, and it was pandemonium. The 5:00 was just loading, and the 6:00 was full. We managed to squeak on to the 7:00. The kids were excited to be on the ferry.

Now we’re all settled into Paul’s Motor Inn. We’ll be charitable and call it “retro”, okay?

Note the bicycle. It seems to have made the trip okay. I’ve cleaned and lubed the chain and put the wheels back on. Should be all ready for Sunday’s ride.
