First Super Long Bike Ride (outdoors)

Today was my second Sunday bike ride with Mary. Last week we went out and travelled up 12 Mile Coulee Road and around some outback areas. I would’ve posted the map, but I was having technical difficulties. 😃

Today we did a 31.5km “circuit” in the NW out near where Simon and the Bow Cyclists usually venture.  It wasn’t the best day for riding and we weren’t sure if it was going to start raining.  The fog was thick in some places and it was cold. Nevertheless, we managed to go out along Township Road 262 and along Burma Road before ending up at Cafe Fresco in Rocky Ridge.  I even had my first bonking while riding. (It’s not what you think.) 😆 I was going along just fine then I started up a small incline and suddenly felt like I wasn’t going to make it.  I couldn’t get my legs to work.  It was so strange. We pulled over and Mary gave me a chewable electrolyte pill and I sucked back a power gel.  Within 5 minutes I was able to go on.

Hopefully next Sunday will be a bit warmer.  The low visibility and dampness made the ride more challenging.  Maybe next week we’ll try going to Cochrane and back.
