Fair warning: in the near future, the look and feel of the ii News will change dramatically. Since the kerfuffle with Dyn.com over the DNS issue, I started looking into what it would take to move this site and all of its content from NucleusCMS, which I have used since January 2003, to WordPress. WordPress is a much more common content management system and should things go haywire again with the DNS and I have to migrate, I will be much more able to do it with this site already moved to the new system.
I have been working at scripting the transfer of the posts, comments and pictures from this site and I am nearing completion.
For those of you with user ids with the current site, I will create new ids in the new and will email you temporary passwords after the switchover. There also is a “comment moderation” system in WordPress that will replace the existing skill-testing questions. If you comment as a registered user, it should appear immediately, but if you are commenting as a guest, you will have to wait until the comment is approved.
I’m pretty excited about it, but it’s too late to push through to completion tonight. And yes, I realize the irony that I have now created yet another post in NucleusCMS that I will have to migrate… 😉
